SKET in Magdeburg

With over 150 years of experience, SKET Verseilmaschinenbau GmbH is one of the world‘s leading suppliers of machinery for the cable and steel rope industry. A member of the WILMS Group since 1997, we are represented with our services and products
in over 35 countries on 5 continents. On a 40,000 square meter site and a production and assembly area of more than 10,000 square meters, we design and manufacture proven standard machines, new and further developed machines, and special machines for cable and steel rope production.

Throughout our company‘s history, generations of outstanding technicians and engineers have repeatedly shaped our company – such as Hermann Gruson and Friedrich Krupp. Our status is defined by the combination of decades of tradition with technological innovations. This is how SKET Verseilmaschinenbau GmbH measures itself today and will continue to do so in the future.

The roots of mechanical engineering in our region of Magdeburg date back to the mid-19th century. The name SKET originally comes from the term “Schwermaschinenbau” (heavy machinery construction).

Delivery of the first „MKZ“ type machine (Central Strander)

1997

Founding of „SKET Verseilmaschinenbau GmbH“ as part of the WILMS Group

2008

Entry into the offshore submarine cable market – NSW Nordenhamm – the world‘s largest basket stranding machine to date

2012

Delivery of the first „MVD“ type machine (Vertical Laying-Up Machine)

2013

Delivery of the world‘s longest tubular stranding machine – SRW 1+48x80

2014

Construction of the largest take up with a capacity of 600 tons and a reel width of 10 meters

2024

Delivery of the 100th „MKZ“ type machine (Central Strander)
